The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) recently embraced new opportunities for development and investment during a significant meeting with Canada’s Secretary of State for International Development, Randeep Sarai. This event took place at a special business reception organized by Investment Fiji at the Crowne Plaza, highlighting a commitment to enhancing international relations.
During the reception, Sarai outlined Canada’s foreign policy agenda, emphasizing efforts to diversify trade and investment, align development priorities, and utilize international assistance to foster economic growth partnerships. This dialogue underlined the significance of strengthening ties between Fiji and Canada, and the potential for collaborative development initiatives.
NCCI President Lawrence Kumar expressed his enthusiasm about the meeting, noting it as a valuable networking opportunity for discussing vital development prospects in Fiji. He highlighted that with Sarai’s upcoming official opening of Canada’s High Commission in Fiji, the stage is set for promising job creation and economic enhancement in the region. Kumar remarked that this development represents a pivotal milestone in Canada’s prolonged engagement in the Pacific and strengthens the enduring people-to-people connections between the two nations.
The presence of the Canadian High Commission is expected to catalyze increased Canadian tourism to Fiji, benefiting both economies. Sarai’s visit, which marks his first trip to Fiji, includes a busy agenda of field visits and events across Nadi, Sigatoka, and Suva, indicating a proactive approach towards fostering bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for growth.
This strengthening relationship is not only hopeful for economic advancement but also serves as a testament to the value of international collaboration in addressing shared challenges and opportunities.
