Unsettled weather continued to impact parts of Fiji, with a significant wind gust of 70 kilometers per hour recorded in Nadi last night, according to the Fiji Meteorological Service. The strong winds resulted in an Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) power post collapsing in Sabeto, close to Muslim Primary School, around 11:15 PM. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but residents have been advised to exercise caution during the ongoing wet conditions.
Additionally, the heavy rain warning that had been in place for the entire Fiji Group has now been downgraded to a heavy rain alert. The Weather Office indicated that a trough of low pressure, accompanied by cloud and rain, continues to influence the region. Most areas can expect occasional rain, with isolated thunderstorms and localized heavy rainfall potentially occurring.
As the weather pattern affects daily life, staying informed and vigilant can help residents navigate the challenges posed by the conditions. Community members are encouraged to be prepared for changing weather and to heed safety advice from local authorities.
