Fiji is bracing for heavy rain and strong winds as Tropical Disturbance TD07F approaches the country, with impacts expected to be felt from tomorrow. The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued Strong Wind Alerts for several regions, including the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, northern Vanua Levu, and western and northern Viti Levu, as well as Kadavu and nearby islands.

These alerts extend to the waters surrounding Southwest Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca, as well as Northern Vanua Levu waters and the passages of Kadavu and Vatu-i-Ra. TD07F, which was officially designated today, is currently positioned to the northeast of Vanuatu and is moving south-southeast towards Fiji.

While the system is unlikely to reach tropical cyclone status, forecasts suggest it will develop into a tropical depression by tomorrow. The combination of strong winds and an active low-pressure trough is expected to produce outbreaks of heavy rain across Fiji starting from late tomorrow. The meteorological office indicates that winds will likely subside by Thursday evening, with a gradual improvement in rainfall conditions expected by Friday.

Authorities and the public are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as they monitor continuous weather updates to ensure safety during this weather event.
