The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall affecting the interior and southern regions of Viti Levu, as well as southeastern parts of Vanua Levu. The warning encompasses areas from Korolevu, Interior Ba, Interior Nadroga-Navosa, and Sigatoka, extending through the Coral Coast to Interior Serua-Namosi. It also includes southern areas of Vanua Levu such as Southern Bua and Cakaudrove.

According to the weather office, a northerly wind flow is causing unstable weather conditions, leading to expected thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Intense rainfall is anticipated in the warned areas, heightening the risk of flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone regions.

The public is advised to exercise caution by steering clear of flooded creeks and drains, avoiding travel through floodwaters whether on foot, by bicycle, or in vehicles. Residents are encouraged to unplug electrical appliances, stay indoors away from windows, keep children indoors, and stay vigilant by monitoring the evolving weather situation closely.

The Fiji Meteorological Service emphasized that thunderstorm activity and heavy rainfall are likely to persist throughout the afternoon and evening, urging all residents in the affected areas to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
