A heavy rain warning has been issued for the regions of Vanua Levu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji. The Fiji Meteorological Service released this alert in their bulletin at 10:30 PM, highlighting a trough of low pressure that is currently situated to the far West-Northwest of the country, causing cloud and rainfall.

It is anticipated that this trough will gradually move southward and begin to impact the northwestern regions of Fiji from tomorrow onwards. Residents in Vanua Levu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca groups should prepare for a transition from scattered showers to more frequent and heavy rainfall starting later tomorrow, with isolated thunderstorms expected to exacerbate conditions with heavy falls.

The Fiji Meteorological Service has also indicated the potential for isolated flash flooding in low-lying areas, urging the public to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.

As the traditional rainy season approaches, communities in these areas can remain hopeful that timely alerts will help mitigate any damages and ensure the safety of residents as they prepare for challenging weather conditions. It’s essential for individuals to stay informed and heed any advisories to stay safe during this weather event.
