A heavy rain warning has been issued for the western and northern regions of Fiji, as a low-pressure system brings cloud and rainfall to these areas. Residents can expect the rain to gradually extend across the rest of the country by tomorrow. Currently, a north to easterly wind flow is affecting the islands.

The forecast indicates that the Northern Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Viti Levu, and nearby smaller islands will experience occasional rain, which may be heavy at times, accompanied by scattered thunderstorms. The potential for isolated thunderstorms brings the risk of heavy rainfall, which could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Individuals should be mindful that daily activities may be disrupted due to wet roads and low visibility. The Fiji Meteorological Service is set to provide updated information in its next bulletin at 10:30 PM tonight.

As the weather situation develops, it is crucial for residents to stay informed and prepared, ensuring safety during adverse conditions. While heavy rain can be concerning, it also replenishes local water sources and agricultural lands, potentially benefiting the environment in the long run.
