The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain warning for the entire Fiji Group as Tropical Depression TD03F continues to impact weather conditions across the nation. As of 3 a.m. today, the depression was located approximately 510 kilometers west-northwest of Yasawa-i-Rara and about 675 kilometers west of Labasa. The system is gradually moving east-southeast at a speed of around 10 kilometers per hour toward Fiji.

An associated trough carrying active rain bands is expected to affect the region until later Thursday. Residents can anticipate periods of heavy rain across the Fiji Group, along with occasional thunderstorms. The Fiji Met Office has cautioned that the ongoing heavy rainfall may trigger flash flooding, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying areas, which includes informal settlements, communities, businesses, and Irish crossings.

Motorists are urged to proceed with caution due to slippery road conditions that could pose hazards and increase the likelihood of accidents, especially in areas that poorly drain water. Traffic disruptions and delays are also likely as a result of the inclement weather. Residents are reminded to stay vigilant and take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this weather event.

The community is encouraged to stay informed and prepared, as the situation is carefully monitored. Tips for safety during such weather include staying indoors during heavy rain, avoiding flooded areas, and staying tuned to local updates.
