The Fiji Amateur Boxing team is making impressive strides at the Australian Golden Gloves competition currently taking place in Queensland, Australia. The team, composed of ten dedicated boxers, has already secured three medals, showcasing their talent on an international platform.

Among the highlights of the competition, Anaseini Naikanivatu made a notable debut for the Fijian team, clinching a gold medal with her exceptional performance. Sakiusa Narara, also participating in his first international tournament, demonstrated his prowess by knocking out his opponent, Finlay Wilson, in the first round of the 85kg open division. Additionally, Norman Amram has brought home a silver medal following a commendable victory over Australian boxer Eduardo Hawkins.

Head coach Cam Todd expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance so far and remains optimistic about their potential for additional medals as the competition progresses. “I’m very happy with the way the team is going so far,” he stated. Todd also emphasized the valuable experience these young boxers are gaining through exposure to tough competition, many of whom are competing at this level for the first time.

The Australian Golden Gloves competition, which concludes on Saturday, serves as a critical platform for the development of boxing in Fiji, reinforcing ongoing efforts to nurture junior and youth talent.
