The Vodafone Fiji Bati has ramped up their training intensity in preparation for a crucial match against the Cook Islands, scheduled for tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This update was shared by head coach Wise Kativerata.

Kativerata emphasized the importance of refining their performance this week, particularly in completing their sets and executing their kicks. He noted, “We know we can score points anywhere, but we can’t do that if we’re always on the back foot.” The coach highlighted the necessity of eliminating the mistakes made in their previous match against Papua New Guinea.

“This is an important game as we aim to finish the Pacific Bowl Championship on a positive note,” he said, commending Papua New Guinea while stressing the need for his team to be ready to face the Cook Islands.

Kativerata expressed his excitement about the growth of international rugby league in Fiji, thanking the supportive crowd and mentioning their build-up towards the Rugby League World Cup. “We have future Fiji Bati players emerging for the next World Cup,” he added.

He noted improvements in player communication during training, saying, “They’re now talking more, and they enjoy it more, which is positive, and I’m happy.” Kativerata also mentioned that James Valevatu, who has performed well for Wests in reserve grade, will be evaluated this week.

The coach plans to assess the players’ performance after the tournament. Among the Bati players in the NRL unable to participate due to suspensions and injuries are Api Koroisau, Mika Ravalawa, Daniel Safaiti, Jacob Safaiti, Marcelo Montoya, and Reagan Campbell-Gillard.
