The Fiji Baby Pearls Invitational Tournament is underway at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, providing an essential platform for head coach Simone Nalatu to evaluate her players ahead of the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup. The tournament, which kicked off last night, features two Baby Pearls squads—Kikau and Kacau—culminating a week of competitive action against Australian teams.
With the World Cup less than three months away, Coach Nalatu is focused on finding effective on-court combinations, improving team chemistry, and solidifying their tactical approach. “We need a variety of players who can take on multiple positions to counter different styles of play,” she stated, emphasizing that every spot on the team remains open as they search for versatility.
This year’s tournament sees the Baby Pearls squaring off against the South Coast Blaze and the NSW Fiji Davui teams, the latter comprising players from the Fijian community in Australia, adding a personal dimension to the contest.
The tournament’s lineup continues today with Baby Pearls Kacau facing NSW Davui at 5:30 p.m., followed by Baby Pearls Kikau against South Coast Blaze at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the Vodafone Arena gates.
