Patrick Bower, the president of the Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association, expressed his commitment to addressing the concerns of participating districts during the conclusion of the 2024 Tuckers Ice-Cream Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Championships at the HFC Bank Stadium on Friday. Bower acknowledged the various complaints received from districts and emphasized the association’s efforts to respond to genuine issues while also maintaining the integrity of the event.

He noted that some districts had raised concerns that their athletes were overlooked, prompting the association to reassess the event’s program to ensure fairness and inclusivity. Bower emphasized the importance of such measures, stating that the lessons learned from this experience would influence future competitions, maintaining that the association strives to make decisions in the best interest of the young athletes.

In the competition itself, Suva One emerged victorious in the boys’ category, securing 12 gold, nine silver, and six bronze medals, while Nadi claimed the girls’ category with an impressive tally of 18 gold, nine silver, and seven bronze medals.

This commitment to improvement and responsiveness illustrates a positive direction for the athletics association, suggesting a bright future for the young athletes in Fiji. By prioritizing the needs and concerns of all participants, the association is laying the groundwork for a more equitable and successful sporting environment.
