Patrick Bower, the president of the Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association, expressed his commitment to prioritizing the needs of the participants as the 2024 Tuckers Ice-Cream Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Championships concluded at the HFC Bank Stadium. His remarks came in light of various complaints raised by participating districts regarding the event.

Bower reassured that any genuine complaints had been duly addressed, while issues that did not seem sincere were set aside to maintain the flow of the program. He noted that some districts expressed concerns over their athletes being overlooked, prompting a reassessment of the program to ensure inclusivity.

“This approach is vital as it establishes the groundwork for future competitions,” Bower stated. He emphasized the importance of making thoughtful decisions at this level, which will influence the athletes’ development as they progress in their sporting careers.

In terms of competition outcomes, the boys’ category was dominated by Suva One, which secured 12 gold, nine silver, and six bronze medals. Meanwhile, Nadi emerged victorious in the girls’ category, amassing 18 gold, nine silver, and seven bronze medals.

This event not only highlights the competitive spirit among the districts but also shows the association’s dedication to fostering a positive environment for young athletes. By addressing concerns and striving for fair competition, the Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association is reaffirming its commitment to the future of these budding sports talents.

In summary, as Bower and his team work diligently to implement feedback and improve the experience for all participants, the foundation is being laid for even more successful athletic events in the years to come.
