Fiji Announces Groundbreaking Foreign Policy Update

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is on the brink of finalizing and launching Fiji’s inaugural Foreign Policy White Paper, which will outline the framework and pathway to advance the nation’s strategic interests and goals.

Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua emphasized this development while addressing the 2024-2025 National Budget. She pointed out that the policy will be guided by the pillars of sovereignty, security, and prosperity.

Qereqeretabua stated that this document will be anchored on a carefully calculated direction rooted in Fiji’s context, values, and aspirations.

With a $43.8 million allocation, Qereqeretabua added that the Ministry will work towards achieving Fiji’s foreign policy goals. This mandate requires agility and a culture of continuous learning, supported by streamlined systems and processes.

“This is supported by a modus operandi that also invests in building our capability, focusing on our workforce, system, and infrastructure,” she said.
