Fiji and the United States have reinforced their dedication to enhancing bilateral and regional cooperation through a recent meeting between Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Sakiasi Ditoka, and John Degory, the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Suva.

During their discussion at the Ministry’s headquarters, both officials expressed a mutual commitment to fostering collaboration via continuous dialogue. Minister Ditoka highlighted the progression of the partnership between Fiji and the United States, which now spans crucial areas such as development, trade, security, and cultural exchanges.

The minister pointed out that the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy aligns closely with Fiji’s 2050 Blue Pacific Continent Strategy, emphasizing shared goals in regional security, economic resilience, and climate adaptation. He reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to further deepening cooperation with the U.S. and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the U.S. Embassy in Suva.

The discussion also touched on recent immigration policy developments, which are being addressed through cooperative dialogue, along with upcoming opportunities to enhance trade and economic collaboration. Degory congratulated Minister Ditoka on his new role and expressed the United States’ eagerness to strengthen ties with Fiji and the broader region.
