Weather Update – Friday, February 6, 2026

Attention, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas, galoshes, and perhaps a kayak, because a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still in action throughout the entire Fiji group! Yes, that’s right, it’s as if Mother Nature has decided to throw a never-ending water fight – and it looks like we’re all invited!

What’s happening, you ask? A persistent trough of low pressure is lazing about over Fiji, slowly migrating southward as if it’s on a leisurely vacation. Don’t worry though, it’s expected to pack its bags and head southwest by Saturday. But until then, prepare yourself for a symphony of clouds and rain that will serenade us until the sun comes out to play again.

Here’s what you can expect before the clock strikes midnight tomorrow: Frequent rain and the occasional thunderstorm – complete with a light show courtesy of Mother Nature herself! Expect isolated heavy downpours that might challenge the best of us and could even lead to some flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, if you see any boats floating down the street, don’t be alarmed; they might just be the new form of public transport!

Winds will be moderate, blowing from the north to the southeast and then transitioning predominantly to the north by later today. Seas? Well, they’ll be moderate as well, but might get a bit rowdy in areas with thunderstorms (maybe don’t plan your next surfing adventure just yet).

Now, let’s take a glimpse into the crystal ball for Sunday. Expect cloudy periods and a sprinkle of showers for the eastern and interior parts of our magnificent islands. For the rest, enjoy some fine weather but keep your eyes on the sky for those cheeky afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.

Here’s your local forecast roundup for various regions:

**Navua / Suva / Nausori:** A partly cloudy day fought off an occasional rain and some hefty thunderstorms. Temperatures tomorrow will be a cozy Min: 24, Max: 30.

**Natadradave/Korovou:** Partly cloudy with a chance of rain and thunderstorms, as usual. Tomorrow’s Min: 24, Max: 29.

**Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** Cloudy with some rain and thunderstorms on the horizon. Tomorrow’s forecast: Min: 23, Max: 29.

**Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** More of the same with occasional rain and thunderstorms developing. Tomorrow will see a Min: 24, Max: 30.

**Tavua/Rakiraki:** A continuation of our weather party featuring occasional rain and thunder. Expect Min: 24, Max: 29 for tomorrow.

**Labasa to Savusavu:** Yet again, showers will be fashionably late. Expect to be greeted by some rain and a Min: 24, Max: 29/28, respectively.

**Kadavu:** Expect partly cloudy skies, but that won’t stop the rain and thunderstorms from crashing the party. Be ready for Min: 24, Max: 31 tomorrow.

**Rotuma:** The rain is particularly keen to stick around here, so get ready for some showers and left-over thunderstorms! Tomorrow temperatures will be Min: 25, Max: 32.

So there you have it, folks! Stay safe, stay dry, and keep your sense of humor intact as we ride this wave of wet weather together. And remember, the next time you’re tempted to complain about the rain, just think: at least we’re not stuck in a snowstorm!
