The Minister of Education, Aseri Radrodro, joined forces with the Japanese Ambassador to Fiji, Rokuichiro Michii, to inaugurate new educational facilities at Navuakece District School in Naitasiri on Thursday. This significant project saw the construction of a new block containing three classrooms, which was presented to the school’s management board.

During the event, Radrodro expressed gratitude towards the government of Japan for its continued support and dedication to enhancing education in remote regions like Navuakece. He underscored that the importance of the new facilities extends well beyond mere physical structures.

“These classrooms are not just buildings; they are safe, vibrant spaces where our children can explore, learn, and grow. They provide the ideal environment for students to embark on their educational journeys,” stated Radrodro.

The classrooms, worth $412,134, were financed collaboratively by the governments of Fiji and Japan, aiming to foster a conducive learning atmosphere for the children of Navuakece and thereby enriching the educational experience in the community.

Radrodro also praised the resilience and commitment of the school’s management, including parents and teachers. He encouraged the school leadership and the community to uphold their collaborative efforts for the school’s ongoing success. Reiterating the Coalition Government’s commitment to accessible education for all, he emphasized the necessity of cooperation and consultation for Fiji’s future development.

“Quality education must be accessible to all children, ensuring that no one is left behind,” he asserted. As he concluded, the minister called on parents, guardians, teachers, and the broader community to collaboratively nurture the next generation of leaders. He urged school staff and management to fully embrace the new facilities and strive towards delivering the best educational outcomes for students.

This initiative marks a hopeful step forward for educational development in Fiji, showcasing how international partnerships can play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experiences of students in underprivileged areas. The support from Japan exemplifies a commitment to building a brighter future for the next generation.
