President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu of Fiji reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to the “One China Principle” and emphasized Fiji’s longstanding friendship with China during a meeting with His Excellency Zhou Jian, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China. This year marks a significant milestone as it is the 50th anniversary of the formal diplomatic relationship between Fiji and China, as well as the 170th anniversary of Chinese arrival in Fiji.

In his remarks, President Lalabalavu highlighted the importance of the partnership between the two countries and expressed gratitude for the ongoing cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. Ambassador Zhou conveyed warm greetings from President Xi Jinping and confirmed that discussions are in progress regarding a proposed new Executive Building for the Office of the President, which is to be considered by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).
