The Government of Fiji, via the Ministry of Employment, Productivity, and Workplace Relations, has entered into a Strategic Partnership Program with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). This initiative emphasizes the government’s commitment to enhancing productivity, boosting public sector performance, and fostering sustainable national development.
This agreement reinforces the existing collaboration with the APO, signaling a focused, results-driven phase in their partnership that aligns with Fiji’s overarching development objectives. Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, Secretary-General of the APO, remarked that this enduring partnership aligns closely with Fiji’s development strategies and integrates essential productivity principles critical for sustainable economic growth.
Dr. Singawinata reiterated the APO’s dedication to assisting Fiji in enhancing efficiency within the public sector. This support includes the establishment of a Productivity Commission and the enhancement of training programs through local institutions, which are key to building a skilled workforce and improving governmental processes.
Maritino Nemani, Permanent Secretary for Employment and APO Director for Fiji, heralded the agreement as a significant milestone for the nation. He stated that the program represents a more strategic, results-oriented approach to boosting productivity across both public and private sectors, while also championing national sustainability and resilience objectives.
Nemani expressed gratitude to national stakeholders for their leadership and commitment to this initiative, and he acknowledged the ongoing technical assistance from the APO Secretariat in developing and finalizing the Strategic Partnership Program. The collaborative effort aims to create a positive and lasting impact on Fiji’s economic landscape, contributing to a more sustainable future for the nation.
