Fiji Airways has restarted its Auckland service after a weather-related cancellation yesterday that it attributed to Tropical Cyclone Vaianu. The carrier said Flight FJ413 from Nadi, which was cancelled amid adverse conditions, was rescheduled and departed this morning at 5:00am. The return service, FJ412, is scheduled to leave Auckland at 9:15am local time for Nadi.

In a travel alert issued to passengers, Fiji Airways said the cancellation and subsequent delays were driven by poor weather associated with Vaianu and warning forecasts for Auckland over the weekend. “Flights have been delayed due to adverse weather conditions,” the airline said, adding that operations are now being restored where conditions permit.

The airline confirmed its teams are contacting affected travellers directly to advise on rebooking and other arrangements. Fiji Airways urged passengers to check flight status online and to ensure their contact details are up to date so they can receive the latest notifications. The carrier also apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience as services resume.

The disruption is the latest in a series of weather- and operations-related interruptions that have affected the Nadi–Auckland link in recent months. Fiji Airways faced heavy scrutiny after a major delay and cancellation on the same route in December 2025 that left passengers stranded; the carrier then apologised and pledged to support affected travellers. This week’s prompt rescheduling and proactive passenger contact signal an effort to limit further disruption as the cyclone’s effects are monitored.

Airport authorities in both Fiji and New Zealand continue to assess local conditions, and passengers travelling on South Pacific and trans-Tasman services are being advised to monitor airline and airport channels for updates. Travel alerts from carriers typically include options for rebooking, refunds or rerouting when flights are cancelled; Fiji Airways said its customer service teams are managing those enquiries directly.

Travellers with imminent Nadi–Auckland or Auckland–Nadi itineraries should verify their flight times before leaving for the airport and make sure their email and phone details with the airline are current. Fiji Airways said it will provide further operational updates as necessary while continuing to prioritise passenger and crew safety amid the unsettled weather.
