Fiji Airways is set to enhance its Australian presence by launching direct flights between the Gold Coast and Nadi, starting on June 11. This new service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The introduction of direct flights presents the Gold Coast community with a faster and more convenient travel option to Fiji, while also offering Fijians direct access to the vibrant Gold Coast. The service will take just over three hours and is expected to add 53,000 seats to the market each year, making significant contributions to local tourism and commerce.

Paul Scurrah, the Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized the importance of this new route, stating that it showcases the airline’s ongoing commitment to serving the Australian market. He remarked that the Gold Coast aligns perfectly with Fiji Airways’ operations, highlighting the region’s tourism growth, business opportunities, and improved infrastructure.

Amelia Evans, CEO of Queensland Airports Limited, expressed excitement over the new connection, acknowledging the deep affection Australians have for vacations in Fiji. She noted that this direct route will simplify travel plans, encouraging Australians to visit Fiji while making it easier for Fijians to connect with their friends and family living in Australia.

This new route marks Fiji Airways as a significant player in the Australian market, being the airline’s seventh destination in Australia and the fourth direct flight replacing previous one-stop journeys. This expansion not only strengthens ties between Fiji and Australia but also paves the way for increased tourism and cultural exchange between the two nations.
