Fiji Airways has significantly expanded its international reach by launching its longest flight and inaugural direct service between Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, and Nadi, Fiji. This new route will initially operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is recognized as the second most connected airport globally, providing Fiji Airways passengers with improved access to numerous international destinations. Andre Viljoen, the CEO of Fiji Airways, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating that it enhances connectivity for U.S. travelers, facilitating access to Fiji and the South Pacific and allowing seamless connections to Australia and New Zealand. This service is expected to bring an estimated 1,000 passengers to Fiji weekly, significantly benefiting the tourism sector and fostering business relationships between the two nations.
DFW’s Chief Executive, Sean Donohue, echoed the excitement, highlighting how this addition enriches North Texas’s portfolio of international destinations, connecting it to the beautiful islands of Fiji and DFW’s extensive network of over 250 global destinations.
The inaugural flight from Nadi, which lasted an impressive 13 hours, arrived at DFW on December 10, 2024, to a warm welcome featuring a water cannon salute. The first outbound flight is set to leave Dallas on the same date, scheduled to arrive in Nadi at 5:20 AM local time on December 12, 2024. Fiji Airways is utilizing the advanced Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft for this route, equipped with premium seating for 334 passengers, including 33 lie-flat business class seats.
This new service enhances Fiji Airways’ existing routes in North America, which include flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver, making it the fifth direct route in the region. The launch is part of Fiji Airways’ larger strategy to broaden its global network, coinciding with the upcoming addition of its 27th direct international route to Cairns, Australia, scheduled to commence on April 10, 2025.
Looking ahead, the airline is set to join the oneworld® alliance on March 31, 2025, and will implement American Airlines’ AAdvantage® loyalty program next year, creating additional travel benefits for customers. To celebrate the new service, Fiji Airways is offering promotional return flights to Dallas Fort Worth starting at $1,999 per person from Nadi, with availability until December 17, 2024.
In summary, this new direct flight from Dallas to Fiji opens up exciting opportunities for both travel and business, reinforcing Fiji Airways’ commitment to enhancing connectivity and supporting the tourism industry in Fiji. It is a promising development for tourism and international travel, presenting travelers with a new gateway to explore the South Pacific’s stunning offerings.
