Fiji Airways has marked the 10th anniversary of its Singapore–Nadi service, revealing that the flag carrier has carried more than 318,000 passengers on the route since launching in 2016. The airline said yesterday it has operated in excess of 1,700 commercial flights across 886 trips between Fiji and Singapore, underlining the route’s role in linking Fiji to Asia and beyond.
The airline currently runs twice-weekly services between Nadi International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport. Fiji Airways reported that roughly one third of passengers on the route connect onward through Changi to destinations across Southeast Asia, Europe and other global markets, highlighting the strategic importance of Singapore as a hub for Pacific travellers.
Paul Scurrah, Fiji Airways’ managing director and CEO, said the anniversary “reflects the airline’s commitment to strengthening Fiji’s global connectivity.” He described the Singapore service as “a vital bridge between Fiji and Asia and beyond,” adding that the route has opened doors for tourism and trade while supporting Fiji’s economy and international reach.
Changi Airport Group also welcomed the milestone. Lim Ching Kiat, executive vice-president of Air Hub & Cargo Development, said the Singapore–Nadi link has “brought the South Pacific closer to Asia” and provided passengers convenient access to Changi’s global network. Lim said the airport looks forward to deepening its partnership with Fiji Airways to grow the route and better serve passengers travelling between the two hubs.
Fiji Airways stressed the route’s contribution to tourism growth and strengthened economic ties over the past decade, crediting the world-class facilities and connectivity at Changi for expanding travel choices for Fijians and visitors. The airline’s figures are the latest public snapshot of a route it says has helped sustain leisure and business travel flows between the Pacific islands and key Asian and European markets.
As both carrier and gateway signal intentions to expand cooperation, the anniversary serves as a reminder of the Singapore link’s continuing value for Fiji’s international connectivity. For now travellers can access the twice-weekly Nadi–Singapore flights and the onward connections available via Changi’s extensive route network.
