Fiji Airports is gearing up for an ambitious decade, planning 18 development projects aimed at enhancing operations at both Nadi and Nausori airports. The airport authority announced today that it has appointed COX Architecture Pty Ltd, a reputable Australian firm known for its work on major global infrastructure projects, as the consultant for creating a comprehensive landside master plan.

This decision follows a competitive tender process, and COX Architecture has a proven track record, having previously contributed to significant projects at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 3, New Delhi International Airport Terminal 3, and Sydney International Airport. Fiji Airports CEO, Mesake Nawari, expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, emphasizing that the master plan is not only crucial for refining airport operations but also for unlocking new revenue streams and diversification opportunities beyond air traffic and airport management.

The landside master plan is set to work in conjunction with the airside master plan covering Nadi Airport, which spans from 2024 to 2048. Initial airside projects are already underway, and over the next decade, travelers can expect significant upgrades. Plans include refurbishing existing facilities, building new gates, and the introduction of a cutting-edge domestic terminal. Additional enhancements will address parking facilities, new passenger boarding bridges, an extended departure lounge, and expanded apron space for domestic operations.

This ambitious initiative promises to strengthen Fiji’s aviation infrastructure, enhancing passenger experiences and positioning the country to better serve both international and domestic travelers.

Positive Commentary: With a clear vision for the future and collaboration with an experienced consultancy, Fiji Airports is taking important steps to modernize its facilities. This investment in infrastructure not only showcases Fiji’s commitment to the tourism sector but also sets the stage for economic growth in the years to come.

Summary: Fiji Airports has announced a decade-long plan that includes 18 projects for the development of Nadi and Nausori airports, in collaboration with Australian architects COX Architecture. The initiative aims to improve both landside and airside operations, enhance passenger facilities, and diversify revenue sources.
