Negotiations are progressing for a potential title fight between Fiji’s featherweight champion Junior Binnu Singh and Sydney’s Runqi Zhou, with plans to feature this bout on the undercard of Kings Boxing’s upcoming promotion at Suva’s Vodafone Arena on July 19. Promoter Nahroon Buksh is optimistic about getting the official sanctioning letter today, stating, “The fight is on and the contract has been done.”

This matchup is highly anticipated among boxing fans in Fiji, as they recall Zhou’s previous performance against the late Ubayd Haider in Nadi. Buksh, who is also a businessman from Labasa, believes that the event will attract a large crowd, supported by a strong lineup that includes a heavyweight title fight where James ‘The Beast’ Singh will defend his title against Semi Dauloloma.

Zhou, known as “Fist of Fury,” is trained by respected boxing coach Angelo Hyder and has a professional record that includes nine victories, three losses, and one draw. On the other hand, Singh has enjoyed a successful career, losing only once in his 12 fights through a split decision. This bout promises not only competitiveness but also the showcase of emerging talents in the region, further igniting interest and enthusiasm in Fijian boxing.

The ongoing developments highlight a promising future for boxing in Fiji, with rising stars continuing to make their mark and gain international attention. These events are crucial for fostering local talent and boosting the overall popularity of the sport, bringing hope for even more exciting matchups in the near future.
