Sahil Prasad from Nadi Sport’s Club achieved an impressive feat by winning the South Seas Club Trustees Cup for the third consecutive time last Saturday in Lautoka. The final match saw him triumph over his father, Yogen Prasad, with a score of 2-0, making it a memorable family showdown.
As the champion, Sahil took home a prize of $1,000, while his father received $500 along with a trophy for his remarkable performance. Reflecting on his victory, Sahil expressed the challenges of defending his title, stating, “It’s always hard to win it again and again.” He also shared how special it is to compete against his father, emphasizing their long-standing rivalry in the finals.
During the tournament, Sahil displayed impressive skills, defeating Sigatoka’s top player Sanjeev Nadi 2-0 in the quarterfinals and besting Fiji’s third-ranked player, Jiten Prasad, in the semifinals. Both matches were described as competitive and hard-fought.
Jan Mohammed, the chairman of the club’s board of trustees, commented on the club’s commitment to enhancing its status as a leading venue for snooker in Fiji, aiming to promote the sport further.
In addition to the finalists, the quarterfinals included players Sanjeev Nand, Kushaal, Roneel Sami, and Abdul Zaved. The top 16 qualifiers for the tournament also featured names like Raymond Reddy, Esala Talebula, and Lema Matailevu.
