Exciting Tennis Tournament Draws Pacific Players to Suva

The 2024 Vodafone Suva Open Championship is anticipated to attract a significant audience, featuring an impressive lineup of 100-200 tennis players from across the Pacific region.

Athletes from American Samoa, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands will converge in Suva from September 13th to 16th for a competitive tennis weekend.

Matches are planned at various venues including the Victoria Tennis Courts, Suva Lawn Tennis Court, and Pathik Tennis Club.

Manuha’apa’i Jioji Qaqaturaga from the Suva Tennis Association emphasized the tournament’s broader goals:

“Suva Tennis Association was established with the objective of creating athletes and sports persons who serve our nation. I am very proud to say that many Suva players have competed at various levels and have been selected for the Fiji team to represent Fiji at the Pacific Games,” she stated.

“We have many new local players and expatriates who have joined the Suva tennis community. This tournament provides a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their talent and skills against other players.”

The event will be supported by Vodafone Fiji’s renewed three-year sponsorship.

Vodafone’s Head of Enterprise Development Antonio Kitione expressed their enthusiasm for sponsoring and supporting the Suva Open until 2026.

“The Suva Open has the potential to grow and inspire more people to engage with tennis. Whether as players, fans, or supporters, our goal is to contribute to the development and success of this event, ensuring it becomes a highlight in the tennis calendar for years to come in Fiji.”
