Exciting Boxing Event Coming to Labasa: Ring Arrives for Historic Night

The South Pacific Boxing Promotions will transport the boxing ring to Labasa for the event scheduled on August 10 at Subrail Park.

Promoter Fred Chand confirmed this to SUNsports, stating that everything is on track for the programme.

“There’s no ring in Labasa, and this is the first programme there in nine years,” he said.

“So far things are 99 percent on plan. The Vanuatu boxers are arriving next Wednesday and will then take a connecting flight to Labasa.”

The main event features Fiji super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific champion Winston Hill facing Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser from Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Ser, trained in China, won a gold medal for Vanuatu at the Pacific Mini Games and has a knockout victory over top Fijian welterweight contender Rakuro Dauvavana.

In a prior interview, former Fiji middleweight champion Nat Ledua mentioned that people in Vanua Levu are excited to see Hill in action.

Another exciting match is the Fiji lightweight title fight between stylish Ubayd Haider (formerly Nathan Singh) and hard-hitting Saimoni Ratu from Naitasiri. Haider, also the country’s super featherweight champion, has recorded two wins in Australia.

“Tickets will go on sale next week,” Chand said, as they are finalizing a few remaining details.
