Three inmates who escaped from the Suva Corrections Center on the night of May 27 have been recaptured early the following morning, as confirmed by the Fiji Corrections Service. The successful apprehension efforts involved intensive joint operations between the Fiji Corrections Service and the Fiji Police Force.

The escapees, identified as Daniel Koroivuki and Selema Nasilivata, were located in Nakasi, while Emosi Rokovesi was found in Newtown along Khalsa Road. However, one inmate, Saula Luveitasau, remains at large, prompting a continued search effort by authorities.

The Fiji Corrections Service has reiterated the serious legal implications of harboring fugitives and has urged the public to remain vigilant in reporting any suspicious activities. This incident highlights ongoing discussions about prison security and the need for effective management protocols within correctional facilities in Fiji.

Past reports have emphasized similar concerns regarding inmate escapes, underscoring a pressing call for reform and improved safety measures. Community cooperation is essential, and there is hope that collective efforts will lead to the swift resolution of this situation, reinforcing public safety and enabling necessary reforms in the correctional system.

The team’s ability to quickly apprehend most of the escapees serves as a reassuring reminder of law enforcement’s commitment to community safety and the importance of public participation in these initiatives.
