A Special Presentation of Nursery Rhymes for Fijian Children
The Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts in Fiji plans to facilitate a healthy learning environment for children while they stay indoors due to the upsurge in COVID-19 cases. As part of their initiative, they will be broadcasting nursery rhymes for children to enjoy right at the comfort of their homes.
Instructive and Enjoyable Programming for Kids
The scheduled broadcasts of nursery rhymes aim to provide an instructive, entertaining, and engaging experience for children. Besides offering entertainment, these rhymes will serve as educational content that helps in the holistic development of the child.
Fiji’s Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar, emphasized the importance of encouraging the children to partake in these fun and educational activities. She also expressed gratitude to the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation for their cooperation and valued partnership in this endeavour.
Partnership that Promotes Learning
The robust partnership between the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts and the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation has aided in this initiative. This alliance has assisted the ministry in its pursuit to promote and support continuous learning amidst the pandemic, ensuring that education remains accessible for children despite the current challenges.
Apart from the nursery rhymes, the ministry will also broadcast instructional materials and resources for all primary and secondary students. The diverse range of curriculum-based educational programs proposed caters to the varying needs and levels of learners, promising a comprehensive learning experience at home.
Nurturing Holistic Growth Even at Home
The Minister further stated that the initiative aims to nurture the various aspects of a child’s growth like emotional, social, and cognitive aspects, apart from just focusing on academic achievement. This holistic focus on child development underscores the importance of constructive and integrative learning even at home.
This concept of home learning is not new and has shown effective results when reinforced with the right tools and guidance. Ensuring that children continue to learn while staying safe at home is central to this initiative.
In a nutshell, the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts in Fiji is advancing the cause of continuous learning for children, backed with the combined efforts of its valued partners such as the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation. The provision of engaging nursery rhymes and educational programs on-air is indicative of the ministry’s dedication to uphold education in these trying times.
