Empowering Youth: A Digital Revolution at Bua Festival

The youth of Bua have received support and empowerment for sustainable development through digital innovation. This theme was central to the week-long Bua Youth Festival, which commenced with the celebration of International Youth Day, bringing together young representatives from Bua, Cakaudrove, and Macuata.

During the festival’s opening ceremony on Tuesday, Youth and Sports Minister Jese Saukuru emphasized the important role that young people play in shaping the future. “Today not only acknowledges the unique challenges faced by individuals but also highlights their pivotal role as key partners in driving positive change,” he stated.

Kinijioji Vakawaletabua, an assistant lecturer at the Fiji National University (FNU) and vice president of the Bua Youth Council, underscored the festival’s significance as a platform for youth to connect, learn, and develop. He noted, “This event provides an opportunity for young people to showcase their talents, share ideas, and learn from key stakeholders like FNU about contributing to a brighter future for Fiji.” Mr. Vakawaletabua reaffirmed the university’s long-standing support for the Bua Youth Festival, demonstrating its commitment to the aspirations of the province’s youth.

The festival is set to conclude tomorrow.
