Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Prof Biman Prasad emphasized the importance of increasing the representation of women in decision-making and leadership roles to ensure Fiji’s success over the next 25-30 years. His remarks came during the ceremony marking the handover of the Kimaya House to the Tagitagi Mathar Sangam in Tagitagi, Tavua.
Prof Prasad highlighted that empowering women and encouraging them to take on leadership roles will significantly contribute to the country’s future development. He noted that the National Development Plan includes a framework to address the integration of women into the labor market and their elevation to leadership positions.
He stated, “If we have any ambitions in this country, any government which has that ambition to make Fiji a rich country in the next 25-30 years, it cannot do so without ensuring our women are at the forefront, are in the labor market, and are in leadership positions.” He reiterated that the nation’s aspirations cannot be achieved without prioritizing women’s roles.
The Kimaya House was constructed by the Tour Managers Group of Companies for the Tagitagi Mathar Sangam.
