Three strategic development plans designed to stimulate business growth in Vuda, Lautoka, were unveiled by Ifereimi Vasu, the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, on Thursday. These initiatives aim to promote sustainable practices among Vuda landowning units while ensuring that landowners can financially benefit from their business engagements.
Minister Vasu emphasized the necessity of a structured approach to development, stating that this initiative intends to rectify previous isolated business practices that had limited community benefits. Ratu Meli Tora Tavaiqia, chairperson of Vuda Holdings Pte Ltd, echoed this sentiment, expressing a commitment to collective prosperity and ensuring that every landowner’s voice is considered in future business ventures.
Plans are also in place for the organization to issue shares for certain investments to encourage financial involvement from local businesspersons. Vasu disclosed that discussions are underway with potential shareholders, enhancing opportunities for community members to engage in business ownership and financial prosperity.
This strategic approach aligns with broader efforts in Fiji to elevate business ownership among the iTaukei community, which currently stands at only five percent. The initiatives are expected to foster greater economic resilience by encouraging collaboration among community members and promoting financial literacy, thus paving the way for a more vibrant and inclusive economic landscape.
Overall, these developments signal a promising step toward empowering iTaukei individuals and enhancing their roles in Fiji’s economic future. By promoting teamwork and a shared vision of success, there is a hopeful outlook for communities to thrive collectively.
