iTaukei landowners are convening today in Lami for a two-day iTaukei Resource Owners Forum aimed at discovering innovative strategies to build wealth for future generations. The forum is designed to amplify the voices of indigenous communities, focusing on leveraging their land, knowledge, and skills to foster long-term economic opportunities.
Pita Navakamocea, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, highlighted that this year’s forum’s theme, “Accelerating the Creation of iTaukei Intergenerational Wealth,” underscores a commitment to sustainable economic growth. It will bring together landowning groups, business leaders, governmental bodies, and development partners to discuss effective resource management, procurement access, and strengthening policy and planning capabilities.
This marks the third year of the forum, which aims to support the government’s vision of nurturing a new mindset towards indigenous business practices, ensuring that future generations can benefit from the land and its resources.
