Twenty young women from Matawalu, Namoli, Vitogo, Nabakai, Naviago, and Naudolu Youth Clubs have successfully completed a Massage Therapy Training Program at Naviago Village Community Hall in Lautoka. This initiative was funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Universal Academy of Beauty Therapy, aiming to provide participants with practical skills for employment, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
With an investment of $5,612, the program not only focused on enhancing job readiness but also promoted financial independence among the youth. During the graduation ceremony, officials emphasized the significance of skills development in fostering entrepreneurship and opening up new career opportunities for young Fijians. This support mirrors efforts seen in similar training initiatives across Fiji, such as the Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) programs, which also aim to equip young individuals with vital employment skills.
Graduates from various programs, including those in hospitality and aged care, have shared their positive experiences, highlighting the transformative effect of such training on their job prospects and livelihoods. Many have expressed gratitude for the support they received and have encouraged peers to take advantage of these educational opportunities, which are often free and accessible.
This Massage Therapy Training Program is a vital step towards empowering young women in their communities, enabling them to gain independence and contribute effectively to the growing tourism industry in Fiji. By investing in education and skill development, these initiatives collectively foster a brighter future for the youths, helping them navigate economic challenges and improve their overall quality of life.
It’s a hopeful reminder of how targeted training and support can uplift communities and create pathways to success, nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals in the region.
