The Pacific Recycling Foundation (PRF) and Tanoa Hotel Group have reaffirmed their collaboration by hosting the Recycling on the Go (ROG) Leadership Forum for a second consecutive year. This initiative, supported by Swire Shipping and Tourism Fiji, serves as a prominent platform for empowering student ROG Ambassadors in advocating for sustainable waste management and environmental stewardship.
Set to take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi, the ROG Leadership Forum aims to unite young leaders, educators, and stakeholders, encouraging them to inspire action, share success stories, and cultivate a culture of responsible recycling and waste management. Over 20 student ROG Ambassadors from across the country will attend, discussing challenges, exchanging ideas, and enhancing their roles as advocates for environmental responsibility.
PRF’s founder, Amitesh Deo, emphasized the significance of this partnership in driving grassroots change. “The Recycling on the Go Leadership Forum represents a bold step toward empowering young Fijians to lead the charge against environmental and social injustices,” Deo remarked. He expressed gratitude towards Tanoa Hotel Group for providing a platform for student leaders to showcase their activism and share innovative ideas, thus nurturing a generation of eco-conscious leaders committed to promoting best practices in waste management.
Narend Kumar, Area General Manager of Tanoa Hotel Group, highlighted their commitment to sustainability and the ongoing partnership with PRF. “Tanoa Hotel Group is proud to support this impactful initiative. We recognize the importance of equipping young minds with the tools and confidence to make a difference,” he stated. Kumar described the forum as a movement aimed at shaping a sustainable future for Fiji.
This year’s forum will feature workshops, breakout sessions, and presentations designed to foster networking, leadership development, and innovative thinking among participants. The ROG Ambassadors program, a collaborative initiative by PRF, Swire Shipping, and the Ministry of Education, is currently active at various educational institutions, including Jai Narayan College and Jasper Williams High School.
In essence, the ROG Leadership Forum encapsulates the potential of collaboration to address environmental challenges while empowering the youth to advocate for a circular economy in Fiji. Through this initiative, the hope is to instill a sense of responsibility and inspire actionable solutions among the next generation of leaders dedicated to environmental protection.
