Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro recently addressed new prefects during the 2025 Prefects Investiture Ceremony at Adi Cakobau School (ACS). In his speech, he congratulated the students on their leadership positions, emphasizing that true leadership involves more than just holding a title; it requires responsibility and the ability to set positive examples for others.
Radrodro highlighted the importance of values such as integrity, teamwork, and a commitment to serving others, which are essential for effective leadership. He also stressed the critical role parents play in their children’s education and urged them to engage actively in their children’s academic journeys. According to him, students who have strong family support and good emotional health tend to achieve better in school and personal endeavors.
During his address, the Minister called for a united effort among schools, teachers, parents, and the wider community to tackle pressing social issues like mental health challenges, substance abuse, and high school dropout rates. This comprehensive approach aims to foster a more nurturing and supportive environment within schools, echoing his previous messages that have consistently pointed to the welfare of students and their leadership responsibilities.
Radrodro’s remarks align with themes expressed in prior induction ceremonies, where the need for safe, supportive learning environments has been a recurring topic. His commitment highlights a hopeful vision for Fiji’s education system, suggesting that with collaboration and dedication from all parties involved, positive transformations are attainable.
As the academic year progresses, this focus on nurturing leadership among students and enhancing parental involvement presents a significant opportunity for advancement in Fiji’s educational sector. It paves the way for a future where every student can realize their full potential and thrive in a supportive community.
