Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) and Business Link Pacific (BLP) are gearing up for their annual micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) conference, which is anticipated to attract around 300 participants. The event is scheduled to take place at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi on June 26-27, as announced during the official launch at the Southern Cross Hotel in Suva.

The conference aims to unite MSMEs, development partners, government stakeholders, financial institutions, and the private sector to tackle significant challenges within the MSME sector, share valuable insights, and discuss sustainable growth opportunities. The theme for this year’s event, “Sustainable Tides: Connecting MSMEs for a Circular Economy,” reflects a collective commitment to promoting sustainability and collaboration among businesses.

Shaheen Ali, the permanent secretary for trade, cooperatives, and MSMEs, praised BAF for creating a dedicated platform for advancing MSMEs. He emphasized the importance of practical support, including enhanced financial tools and initiatives, to drive tangible results. Ali noted that this year’s conference builds on the success of last year’s initiatives, which helped integrate the MSME agenda into broader economic discussions and inspired governmental reforms.

The conference will feature a variety of activities, including capacity-building workshops, networking opportunities, discussions on financing solutions, and showcases of successful MSME stories. This collaborative effort is part of the larger government strategy that aims to bolster Fiji’s MSME sector, further enhanced by initiatives like the recent Co-Investment Fund from Business Link Pacific, which encourages sustainability among MSMEs.

The increasing emphasis on MSMEs is crucial, as they constitute a significant majority of registered businesses in Fiji, contributing considerably to national employment. With ongoing government support and collaborative programs, there is optimism for a resilient and inclusive economic future for Fiji’s entrepreneurial landscape.

The anticipation surrounding the upcoming conference reflects a shared vision for fostering growth and innovation within the MSME sector, showcasing continued dedication to empowering local entrepreneurs and creating a sustainable economy that benefits all Fijians.
