The Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset has teamed up with the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation to support Empower Pacific in providing mental health and psychosocial services. This collaboration aims to enhance Empower Pacific’s toll-free counselling helpline, 5626.
The Rotary Club has committed $15,000 to fund Empower Pacific’s awareness campaigns on the radio station’s media platforms for a full year. Club president Jason Chandra expressed that the signing marks a significant milestone in the club’s ongoing efforts to support mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in Fiji.
“This collaboration goes beyond a formal agreement; it signifies our collective dedication to making a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities across Fiji,” Chandra remarked.
The campaign will promote Empower Pacific’s 24/7 toll-free counselling line, accessible on 2Day FM, Mirchi FM, and Bula FM, ensuring continuous outreach throughout the year. Chandra emphasized the importance of raising awareness so that anyone in need knows where to seek help.
Empower Pacific depends on donors and the private sector for crucial support in its mental health initiatives in Fiji. The helpline is a critical resource, offering immediate professional support to those in need. Chandra highlighted that many individuals face numerous social issues and may not know where to turn for help. Through this campaign, the Rotary Club aims to ensure that those in need can reach out to a counsellor and receive necessary support.
Rotarians feel privileged to support such a commendable cause. “As president of the Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset, I extend heartfelt thanks to our members and Rotarians for their unwavering support and contributions towards our various fundraising activities,” Chandra said.
He acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the members, stressing that their efforts have enabled the club to fund important projects and sponsorships. Chandra assured members that their collective actions are making a positive difference in the lives of individuals across Fiji.
This memorandum of understanding represents a significant step toward fostering a healthier, more supported community in Fiji.
