Eels Bid Farewell to Sivo: What’s Next for the Star Winger?

The Parramatta Eels have announced the immediate release of winger Maika Sivo from the remaining years of his contract.

Sivo, a Fijian talent, has been rumored to be seeking opportunities outside of western Sydney following a challenging 2024 season. Despite his ability to score tries, his defensive performance raised concerns, resulting in him being sidelined from the first-grade team at times during the season.

Now, the Eels have confirmed that Sivo has been allowed to pursue his career with a new club, though his next destination has not yet been disclosed.

Parramatta general manager of football Mark O’Neill expressed gratitude towards Sivo, his partner Korina, and family, wishing them success in their future endeavors, both in rugby league and beyond.

During his tenure with the Eels, Sivo recorded an impressive scoring rate with 104 tries in 115 games and represented Fiji in 12 international matches since joining the club in 2019.

Sivo’s departure marks the second major release for the Eels this off-season, following Reagan Campbell-Gillard, who moved to the Gold Coast Titans.

Looking ahead, the Eels have already secured Zac Lomax for the 2025 season and added backs Joash Papalii and Jordan Samrani. They have also been linked with potential new wing signings, including Blake Wilson and Josh Addo-Carr.
