This morning, two individuals were taken into custody for possession of illegal drugs following a coordinated operation by the Fiji Police and the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU). The raid occurred in Wailea, Vatuwaqa, where officers discovered 10 dried branches believed to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu reported that the operation commenced at around 2 AM. The effective use of K-9 support from the FDDU played a crucial role in locating the narcotics swiftly.
ACPO Driu emphasized the ongoing commitment of the Police to tackle drug-related issues, stating that further drug raids and checks at checkpoints will be conducted, particularly targeting individuals loitering during late-night hours.
The suspects remain in police custody as inquiries continue into their activities.
