Dynamic Reds once again claimed the Vodafone Fiji Cup title, defeating Zodiac Wyverns with a score of 37-21 in a thrilling final. The match showcased both teams’ competitive spirit, but the defending champions’ skill and experience ultimately secured their victory.

Head coach Jordon Dokonivalu praised his team’s exceptional performance, highlighting their teamwork and well-coordinated strategies on the court. “The girls really did their best in the final, showed teamwork and our combinations were really on point,” said Dokonivalu.

The players faced challenges in balancing their training sessions with their academic responsibilities as students. Nevertheless, their dedication and resolve throughout the competition were evident. “The challenge coming into the competition is that most of the girls are students, so we had to find time for everyone to train,” Dokonivalu added.

This victory is especially meaningful for the team as they return to the championship after a three-year hiatus, underscoring their resilience and hard work. Dokonivalu emphasized the team’s focus on treating each game as a stepping stone, which ultimately contributed to their success in the final.

Looking to the future, the team aims to represent Fiji in the upcoming Mini Games in Palau, with hopes of earning a spot on the national team roster. The win was also dedicated to their loyal supporters in Raiwaqa, as well as their families and friends, who have been integral to their journey.

This inspiring win not only highlights the spirit of competition but also illustrates the potential of young athletes to achieve great things through determination and teamwork, fostering hope for the future of sports in Fiji.
