A 37-year-old man from Lautoka is currently in police custody following a traffic accident where he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred while he was driving on Sukanaivalu Road, where he lost control of his vehicle and struck a 40-year-old account clerk who was standing on the roadside. The injured victim has been admitted to Lautoka Aspen Hospital.
In a separate incident the same morning, another 37-year-old man from Kuku, Bau, Tailevu, lost control of his vehicle on Knolly Street and crashed into a concrete retaining wall, also while under the influence of alcohol. He has been taken to CWM Hospital for treatment.
Authorities are currently conducting traffic investigations into both accidents.
