Authorities have reported multiple arrests linked to illegal drug possession over the past two days across various divisions.
In the Southern Division, specifically at Wailea Settlement in Vatuwaqa, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s were apprehended after officers uncovered white substances suspected to be methamphetamine. In Tamavua, another man in his 30s was arrested for possessing dried leaves and a zip lock bag of seeds believed to be marijuana. Additionally, in Narere, a man also in his 30s was taken into custody after the discovery of multiple sachets of what is suspected to be marijuana.
Furthermore, in Suva, police efforts at a carrier stand led to the arrest of a man in his 40s with dried leaves presumed to be marijuana.
In the Eastern Division, a man in his 50s was arrested in Korovou Town after officers found several bullets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. The Northern Division also saw the arrest of a man in his 20s who possessed zip lock bags containing white substances presumed to be methamphetamine.
All confiscated substances are currently being analyzed as investigations are ongoing.
This renewed focus on drug-related offenses reflects a broader initiative to combat illegal drug use and trafficking, which poses significant challenges to community safety. Continued efforts by law enforcement aim to disrupt the cycle of drug-related crime and promote a safer environment for residents.
