Three men were taken into custody yesterday in connection with illegal drug-related activities. The Police K-9 Unit conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle in Waiyavi, Lautoka, where they discovered illicit substances. During the search, a 26-year-old mechanic from Sabeto Central and a 32-year-old individual from Duna Place in Nadi were found with two clear plastic bags containing a white substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

Additionally, a driver of a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) from Cunningham was arrested after authorities found him in possession of seedlings thought to be marijuana. Following this, a team from the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU) and the Police K-9 Unit carried out a search of his home, where they discovered further seedlings believed to be marijuana.

All three individuals are currently in police custody as investigations are ongoing.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in combating drug-related offenses in the community. The collaboration of specialized units like the K-9 Unit and FDDU demonstrates a proactive approach to maintaining public safety and addressing substance abuse issues. As investigations continue, there is hope that these actions will deter similar activities in the future and promote a healthier environment for the community.
