Two individuals who arrived today on a shipping vessel have been taken into police custody due to their alleged possession of illegal drugs. The Fiji Police Force, alongside the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), conducted a search operation this morning at Port Mua-i-Walu.

During the operation, a 39-year-old farmer was found with bundles of dried leaves, which are suspected to be marijuana. Additionally, a 26-year-old unemployed man was also searched and found in possession of similar dried leaves. Both individuals are currently being held as investigations continue.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Fiji to combat drug trafficking and maintain community safety. The proactive measures taken by the police and detection units serve as a reminder of the importance of vigilance against illegal substances in the region.

As investigations unfold, it is hoped that such operations will deter others from engaging in illegal activities and enhance the overall safety and well-being of communities across Fiji.
