Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s coach, Glen Jackson, is displaying confidence in young talent Isikeli Rabitu by placing him in the starting position of inside centre for the team’s upcoming Pacific showdown against Moana Pasifika. This matchup, part of Round 11 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, follows a recent victory over the Waratahs in Lautoka, which Jackson is keen to leverage for continued success.

Maintaining team stability, Jackson has opted to keep a core group from the last match, while also managing the fitness of impactful player Elia Canakaivata, who will start on the bench. Kitione Salawa is set to lead the loose forward unit from the number 8 position, showcasing Jackson’s strategy of balancing field time for key players while ensuring the team remains competitive.

In the starting lineup, Peni Ravai continues at loosehead prop, alongside Samuela Tawake at tighthead and captain Mesulame Dolokoto in the hooking position. The lock tandem of Isoa Nasilasila and Leone Rotuisolia provides strength in the engine room, while the back row will feature Etonia Waqa at blindside flanker and Motikiai Murray at openside. This structure aims to capitalize on their physical presence against Moana Pasifika.

The backline configuration includes Simione Kuruvoli at halfback teaming up with Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula as flyhalf. The wings are filled by speed merchant Ponipate Loganimasi and retained contender Taniela Rakuro, with Rabitu’s anticipated dynamic play at inside centre alongside Inia Tabuavou at outside centre. Fullback Vuate Karawalevu rounds out the lineup.

The bench also reflects Jackson’s strategic depth, featuring backup hooker Tevita Ikanivere, loosehead support in Meli Tuni, tighthead coverage by Mesake Doge, and further options with Leone Vocevoce for locks and Elia Canakaivata to bolster the loose forwards. The halfback position has coverage via Leone Nawai and Kemu Valetini as backup flyhalf, with backline utility Selestino Ravutaumada completing the roster.

As the Drua prepare for this crucial match, fans are filled with hope that the combination of youthful energy and experienced guidance will lead to a strong performance. This match not only offers a chance for vital points but represents an opportunity to build momentum within the squad moving forward in the Super Rugby season.
