Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s captain, Tevita Ikanivere, has voiced his frustration as the team struggles to secure a win in the ongoing 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, suffering a third consecutive defeat, this time against the Waratahs. The Drua have shown great competitiveness in matches against the Brumbies, Hurricanes, and Waratahs, yet they have repeatedly been unable to close out games, often losing focus in the final minutes.

Ikanivere expressed, “We’ve been there for the whole game and just give it away in the last five minutes,” highlighting the critical need for improvement as the season progresses. Head Coach Glen Jackson recognized the players’ hard work but reassured them that while every match holds significance, not every encounter is a must-win, particularly against the Waratahs.

In their recent outing, the Drua took an early lead thanks to an impressive try from Ponipate Loganimasi. However, despite their fighting spirit and a series of lead changes, they ultimately fell short, conceding a penalty try in the dying moments, mirroring previous games where late errors resulted in lost opportunities.

Nonetheless, there are encouraging elements for the Drua. The rise of young talents like Loganimasi illustrates the team’s potential for development, and the steadfast support from their dedicated fans remains a source of motivation. With more matches on the docket, the Drua are optimistic that they can transform their strong performances into much-needed victories.

Supporters are urged to rally behind the Drua as they focus on building momentum for the season ahead. Their evident resilience combined with ongoing improvements in their gameplay paves the way for a hopeful journey towards achieving success in their upcoming fixtures.
