The Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women are intensively preparing for the upcoming 2025 Buildcorp Super Rugby Women’s season, under the guidance of head coach Ifereimi Rawaqa. With a focus on honing essential skills, the team aims to maintain its status as a formidable competitor in the league.

Key training sessions emphasize the improvement of fundamental aspects of the game, particularly set pieces such as lineouts and scrums. Rawaqa stated, “We are focusing on set pieces, lineouts, scrums, and our core skills. The goal is to sharpen these areas so that we can play our style of rugby effectively.” The coach firmly believes that mastering these fundamentals is paramount to executing their fast, attacking style of play.

The coaching staff is also strategically enhancing the squad composition, with a balanced mix of experienced and young players in the forward pack to ensure physical dominance. Rawaqa highlighted the importance of speed in the backline, stating, “In the backs, we prioritized speed, and we are working on fine-tuning those combinations.” This dual approach aims to solidify the team’s performance on the field.

The team’s first match is set for February 28 against the Waratahs at Allianz Stadium in Sydney. Fans are encouraged to support the team during their home game against the Queensland Reds on March 8 in Lautoka, as Rawaqa emphasizes the importance of fan presence, which can serve as a significant motivation for the players.

Overall, the Drua Women’s dedication to improving their game indicates a promising season ahead, and their focus on fundamental skills combined with strategic player development will aid in their pursuit of success in the Super Rugby Women’s competition.
