Elia Canakaivata, the World Cup 7s champion, will lead the Fijian Drua at the upcoming McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s tournament, set to commence this Thursday in Sigatoka. Joining him is Olympic Games silver medallist Joji Nasova, who is anticipated to make his debut in the Drua 7s jersey during this prestigious event.

Both players are seasoned campaigners in the sevens format and will be supported by prominent team members such as Kitione Salawa and Simeli Karacia from Malolo, who has also secured a spot on the roster. The Drua has unveiled an intriguing lineup for the 14th edition of this notable tournament.

The coaching staff features sevens legend Waisale Serevi and former Flying Fijians winger Nemani Nadolo, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the team. Other squad members include Isikeli Rabitu, Philip Baselala, Aisea Nawai, Joweli Walevu, Ilaisa Droasese, Maika Tuitubou, Kalioni Ratunabuabua, Pita Manamanaivalu, Meli Dreu, and Bogi Kikau.

In the tournament, the Drua will face formidable opponents, including the British Army, Japan SDS, and Yaro Chiefs in their pool. The squad’s opening match is against the British Army at 11:40 AM on Thursday, with fans eager to catch the live action exclusively on FBC Sports. For those outside the region, the three-day tournament can be viewed on Viti+ for a fee of FJ$99.
