Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has acknowledged the challenging task of selecting the starting 15 for each match this season, particularly given the intense competition among the players. The arrival of new signings, including Wallaby halfback Issak Fines-Leleiwasa and former Melbourne Rebels forward Angelo Smith, has intensified this competition for starting positions.
Jackson is confident in the strength of his team for the upcoming season and has expressed admiration for the talent in their development squad, which he views as key to the team’s future. He commented on the depth available to him, indicating that the competitive environment will only enhance their overall performance.
“We have a wide range of players to pick from and competition for all positions has been very tough. Especially with our first game just around the corner. We also have a bunch of talented players in our development squad, and I am excited to see what the future holds for them as well,” said Jackson.
The Drua are set to play a pre-season match against the Skipper XV, comprising players selected from last year’s Skipper Cup competition, on February 6th. Following this, they will take on Moana Pasifika on February 14th in Lautoka, marking an exciting start to the season for the team and its fans.
With a mix of experienced players and emerging talent, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are poised for a promising season, reinforcing the commitment to development within the squad and the potential for future successes.
